Princess Peach grew up in the Mushroom Kingdom and was the princess and supreme ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. When King Cool Buster broke into the palace and saw the then very young Princess Peach, he was attracted by her blonde hair and tall figure. Princess Peach's unique appearance (in human form) was a breath of fresh air in a world full of mushrooms and turtles. Since then, Princess Brigitte has been kidnapped→rescued→kidnapped→...... and is no longer a kidnapped princess.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Princess Peach really does get married to King Koopa, but destroys the wedding when she sees her partner getting drenched in lava, countering Koopa once; and again during the final showdown.
